Boronia Street

After a false start with a previous contractor left the Strata board without a plan going forward, Klaar entered the scene by taking control of a challenging site that required careful management.
Beyond remediating apartment's balustrades into a structurally safer model, the design was modernised. Defects from the previous work done in the building had to be rectified. New hobs and drainage were installed to improve rainwater runoff.
We worked on the balconies in the summer months, while the building was fully occupied. To keep residents safe and able to use part of their balconies, we installed extra balustrade barriers while the site was active.
The client requested a frosted finish look for the balustrade glass, but using the usual laminated interlayer was not recommended for panels placed in the outside of the building. After testing a series of options, Klaar landed on placing the glass in an acidic bath do age them and achieve the desired effect.
